About
For over 12 years now I’ve been going by the online handle, “Dante.” I own another domain name related to Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy (www.purgatorio.com) and have been using Dante at that domain as my email address for equally as long.
When I moved to Madison, Wisconsin I started looking for players to participate in the home-brewed fantasy RPG that I co-created and run. I got a lot of attention based on a demo game that I ran for a local cancer charity and everyone started calling it “Dante’s Game” since that was the only handle they knew me by.
Dante’s Game got its start in Michigan and has been evolving for at least 20 years now. It is the culmination of another home-brewed RPG “system” that some friends in Michigan had been cooking up for a little longer than that. The idea was to cobble together the best RPG that we could find using “the best of the best.” A combat system from this book, character professions from that book, and so on until the end result was a totally rockin’ fantasy RPG system.
I moved away from Michigan and continued to work on and refine the various and sundry rules to suit my preferences for the game and my style of Game Mastering. Someday I’ll stop goofing around with the framework and call it “done,” but until then, Dante’s Game will continue to evolve as my players and I come up with better, more enjoyable ways to experience the game.
This site is dedicated to showcasing some of the highlights of my game, some of the 3D table setups I create to engage the players, and other topics like painting miniatures, building scenery, and other game related items of interest.
Feel free to look around. Feedback is always welcomed.
Enjoy,
-Dante
